I am finally back in Georgia with my husband... Had to go home a couple of months to save some money, and pack things up on the homefront. We have been stationed here, In eastern Georgia. It's not ideal, but its where the army wants to put us. For the bad news- my husband is being deployed in January- and at the very least I am upset. I am upset I have gotten to spend such little time with him since we have been married, and I am upset that there is a need for him to be deployed to a country that should be defending itself at this point. I know that its selfish, but all I want is for him to be home- and safe.
I guess getting into it, I never realized how hard being a military wife would be. I never thought I would have to live with my parents again, even for a few months while my husband completes his training. I got to spend 2 months worth of his training with him, but hotels and food can cost a lot of money.
Currently, we are over three months in.....one month and three weeks left to be exact. This has been so long, it feels like forever. We don't know where our next duty station is, and it is pretty much driving me insane. I have been preparing for the move though.....buying household goods and furniture. It's strange not knowing where you will be living in less than 2 months. I can't describe it, but its not the best feeling. Uncertainty would be the closest to what I feel right now.
Life is different now, I am not a teenager, and living the easy life I was in high school. I wouldn't trade it for anything though.. I love my husband. And he is worth it.
For those who have no idea, take a listen to this song Only a Year or So.... by 36 crazyfists. If you don't like their music, at least appreciate what they are saying.
So after 2 months of not having a laptop and not having regular access to the internet, I finally have both! I took advantage of a father's day sale, and now have access 24/7, and can post on here more regularly. Hooray for blogging!
Ahhh, the wonders of camping. As the spouse of a soldier, I move around a lot. Currently we are in Northern Georgia, which has amazing beauty and plenty of things to do. At the left, are three snapshots I took of our recent camping trip. The one at the tom was the sunrise at about 5 am, and the tent that we had on a small cliff overlooking the lake. We did the trip the old fashioned way, no electricity, or running water. Battery powered flashlights along with a pump for our air mattress is the only electricty we needed.
I have not updated in a while, but I love sharing pictures I capture that show this nation's beauty. More to come soon, I need a laptop first!
Hmmm.... So New Year's was pretty uneventful, but for the first time in my life I went to the beach on New Year's Day and wasn't a member of the Polar Bear Club. Coney Island Polar Bear Club- Fox News . It was actually about 75 degrees out. Today was nice though, a friend from back home called while on leave to say hello, he's currently in boot camp for the US Army, and he was on a 13 day leave due to the holidays. Went out to Von's with the husband, and decided it was a bad idea to grocery shop while you're hungry. Good thing we only had $20!!!
Other than the boring events of my day, I rediscovered what is so wonderful about sleeping past noon. I feel better than I have in a few weeks. I do enjoy the sun as well though, noticing a slight color change on my face. I'm no longer see through due to long working hours and living in New England practically all of my life. I giggle when I hear reports of cars being buried in my parent's yard. I do miss my Siberian husky, Willow (lives with my parents), who would rather enjoy laying on a black mat outside in the sun when it's 90 degrees on a humid New England summer day than the snow. Letting her out to do her business this time of year is also a challenge. She's too wimpy to stay out in the cold, and is scared of the rain. Talk about a fish out of water. I can't wait till my husband and myself get a dog, although he won't let me get a chihuahua. I like them, cause they're little and their mess isn't as big as a 75 lb golden retriever. We'll probably get a nice medium sized dog though, one that can't knock you over by licking your face.
Who is ringing in the New Year with you? Who do you wish could be with you, but isn't there?
I am ringing in my first new year with my wonderful husband, Tom. I wish that the rest of my family could be around, but they are over 3,000 miles away. It is 10:53 pm and I am getting ready to sleep, waking up when it's 2008.
I have a new penguin video as well. Hehe.
So I'm sure you're all wondering why the heck should I read someone's boring blog? What could possibly be so interesting? Well if you need to escape your life for a few minutes a day this is the place to look. I started out 2007 thinking never in my wildest dreams would I live anywhere outside of New England. And now, I live in sunny Southern California about a half-hour from the Mexican border. Talk about a culture shock. On top of a 3,000+ mile move, I fell in love and got married, in about 10 month's time. My husband, Tom, is one of the most fantastic people you will ever meet. He got out of the Marine Corps yesterday, and now we have chosen to stay out here in this beautiful climate. We got married in November, and we don't have any children yet. I would like to finish school before devoting my life to diaper duty and midnight feedings. I want to be a teacher, but working odd end and non related jobs gets me by for now. For now, I enjoy watching Jeff Dunham's ventriloquist acts with my husband, and laying around on a lazy holiday. Listening to classic rock, watching random videos and reading magazines passes the afternoon away. So if you've gotten to this point, you're probably interested at least a little bit. Keep on watching-- I'm sure you'll find more to come.
